Porridge beans and fried plantain. Nigerian Beans and plantain porridge is a meal made up of ripe plantains and beans. This is tasty dish and has become popular over the years , as most parents have discovered it as a way of getting their kids to eat beans. The addition of the ripe plantains, gives the meal , that sweet taste that kids love so much.

We had three different methods of cooking beans then, the plain beans porridge, the beans and yam and the beans and plantain porridge.

Beans and plantain was and still is my favourite.

A couple of months ago, a friend taught me a new method.

You can cook Porridge beans and fried plantain using 8 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Porridge beans and fried plantain

  1. Prepare 5 cups of beans.

  2. It’s 4 of fingers plantain.

  3. Prepare 1/2 cup of Red oil.

  4. Prepare 1/2 cup of Crayfish.

  5. Prepare of Seasoning cube (knorr).

  6. You need 1 of big bulb Onions.

  7. Prepare of Fresh Grounded red pepper.

  8. It’s of Salt.

Homemade porridge beans and fried plantain is so easy to cook, I really love the aspect of frying the plantain because I must taste out of every batch fried….like keep testing.

I really like the taste of porridge beans especially when it is made with ripe plantain, I only learned recently to fry the plantain instead of the old way of adding them to the cooking beans.

When the beans porridge is soft, add the onions, crayfish (if using it), pepper and seasoning.

Note: To get the most out of beans, it is best to cook it with one of the following: sweet yam, ripe/unripe plantain, sweet potatoes or baby corn.

Porridge beans and fried plantain instructions

  1. Pick and wash beans thoroughly and put in a clean pot. Cook for 10minutes and drain water. Add another water and cook till its soft..

  2. Add seasoning cube, sliced onions, salt, fresh pepper, red oil and a little more water if water its almost dried and cook for 5minutes..

  3. Add grounded crayfish and cook for 3minutes..

  4. Wash, Peel and cut plantain. Fry till golden brown..

  5. Serve beans with fried plantain..
