Porridge beans and fried plantain. Nigerian Beans and plantain porridge is a meal made up of ripe plantains and beans. This is tasty dish and has become popular over the years , as most parents have discovered it as a way of getting their kids to eat beans. The addition of the ripe plantains, gives the meal , that sweet taste that kids love so much.

We had three different methods of cooking beans then, the plain beans porridge, the beans and yam and the beans and plantain porridge.

Beans and plantain was and still is my favourite.

A couple of months ago, a friend taught me a new method.

You can cook Porridge beans and fried plantain using 10 ingredients and 12 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Porridge beans and fried plantain

  1. It’s 2 cups of beans.

  2. You need 1 bunch of plantain.

  3. Prepare Half of teaspoon of salt.

  4. You need Half of cup of palmoil.

  5. It’s 5 cubes of knorr.

  6. Prepare 1 of satchet of crayfish.

  7. You need 1 tablespoon of ground pepper.

  8. Prepare 2 of satchet of groundnut oil.

  9. Prepare 1 of onion.

  10. It’s 4 cups of water.

Homemade porridge beans and fried plantain is so easy to cook, I really love the aspect of frying the plantain because I must taste out of every batch fried….like keep testing.

When the beans porridge is soft, add the onions, crayfish (if using it), pepper and seasoning.

Note: To get the most out of beans, it is best to cook it with one of the following: sweet yam, ripe/unripe plantain, sweet potatoes or baby corn.

Ingredients Used: Beans Stew: Black eyed beans Mackerel Koobi(salted fish) Momone(rotten fish) Onions Pepper Ginger Garlic Tomatoes Tomatoe paste Zomi Palm O.

Porridge beans and fried plantain step by step

  1. Remove the dirts from the beans.

  2. Place the beans in a pot slice your onions add 2 cups of water and a pinch of salt.

  3. Place the pot on the gas.

  4. When the beans is soft enough after about 30minutes.

  5. Bring out another pot put on the fire and bleach the palm oil a little bit.

  6. Add your ground pepper crayfish, 3cubes of knots, a pinch of salt.

  7. Add the parboiled beans to the mixture leave for 5minutes.

  8. The porridge beans is ready.

  9. Slice the plantain.

  10. Add your groundnut oil to a pan when its a little bit hot.

  11. Add your plantain turn till its ready.

  12. The food is ready to be served.
