Porridge beans and fried plantain. Nigerian Beans and plantain porridge is a meal made up of ripe plantains and beans. This is tasty dish and has become popular over the years , as most parents have discovered it as a way of getting their kids to eat beans. The addition of the ripe plantains, gives the meal , that sweet taste that kids love so much.

We had three different methods of cooking beans then, the plain beans porridge, the beans and yam and the beans and plantain porridge.

Beans and plantain was and still is my favourite.

A couple of months ago, a friend taught me a new method.

You can have Porridge beans and fried plantain using 10 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Porridge beans and fried plantain

  1. You need 3 cup of honey bean.

  2. It’s 3 tablespoon of crayfish (ground).

  3. You need 1 cup of palm oil.

  4. It’s 2 of knorr cube.

  5. You need 1 of onion bulb (chopped).

  6. You need 5 of habanero pepper(ground).

  7. It’s 1 of big smoked fish.

  8. It’s of I bunch ugwu leaf(sliced).

  9. It’s 2 of finger plantain.

  10. Prepare 1/2 cup of vegetable oil.

Homemade porridge beans and fried plantain is so easy to cook, I really love the aspect of frying the plantain because I must taste out of every batch fried….like keep testing.

If you cooked the beans porridge without any of the additions, serve with Fried Plantain, Fried Yam or fried sweet potatoes.

Ingredients Used: Beans Stew: Black eyed beans Mackerel Koobi(salted fish) Momone(rotten fish) Onions Pepper Ginger Garlic Tomatoes Tomatoe paste Zomi Palm O.

Porridge beans and fried plantain instructions

  1. Wash beans very well put in a pressure pot with enough water set to boil for 15min..

  2. Wash beans and keep aside.place a dry pot on heat,add palm oil,onoins,pepper and crayfish stir for 2min..

  3. Then add the beans and stir then add knorr cube and little water allow for 5min..

  4. Wash smoked fish and debone pour into the pot for 2min then add ugwu leaf then stir immediately turn off heat..

  5. Put vegetable oil in a pan,place on heat.peel plantain sprinkle salt then fry for 5min.

  6. Serve beans with plantain so delicious..

I really like the taste of porridge beans recipe especially when it is made with ripe plantain; and I love cooking it the traditional way of adding the plantains into the porridge beans.
