Easiest Way to Winter Perfect Sooji stuffed Appam Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Sooji stuffed Appam. Sojji appam is a sweet dish like a poori made out of maida, stuffed with sweet rava/ semolina/ sooji stuffing. The sweet stuffing is made with jaggery and coconut (optional). There are few other version too, made with sugar, without coconut and so on, but this is the one I saw in a magazine attachment recipe booklet.

You can keep this sojji appam for week.

Hello Friends, in this video i will show you how to make appe/appam.

It is very healthy and oil-free breakfast.

You can have Sooji stuffed Appam using 17 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Sooji stuffed Appam

  1. Prepare of For cover.

  2. It’s 500 gm of semolina (sooji).

  3. You need 300 gm of curd.

  4. Prepare 200 ml of water.

  5. It’s to taste of Salt.

  6. Prepare 1 tbs of oil.

  7. Prepare of For filling.

  8. It’s 500 gm of boiled peeled and mashed potatoes.

  9. It’s 1 tbs of oil.

  10. You need 1 tsp of grated ginger.

  11. You need 1 tsp of green chilli paste.

  12. You need 6-8 of curry leaves.

  13. You need 2 tbs of finely chopped onions.

  14. Prepare to taste of Salt.

  15. It’s 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.

  16. You need 1 tsp of garam masala.

  17. You need 1 tbs of lemon juice.

A healthier and low caloric take on a traditional sweet recipe compared to the deep fried sojji appams.

I love sojji appams and its my grandma's specialty.

She used to make it for every Diwali and its a crowded affair at home.

Sooji stuffed Appam step by step

  1. Mix all the ingredients given above for cover and keep aside for 10 minutes.

  2. For filling heat oil in small Pan add cumin seeds when it crackles add grated ginger green chilli paste chopped onions curry leaves garam masala turmeric powder salt to taste and saute for 1 minutes now pour this tempering over the boiled and mashed potatoes and mix well now add lemon juice finely chopped fresh coriander leaves now combine well and make small balls from this mixture.

  3. Pre heat Appam pan and grease with oil now pour 1/2 tsp sooji batter in each cavity place potato mixture ball over it now add 1/2 tsp sooji batter and cover the the balls then cover with lid and cook in low flame until the bottom side is golden brown then flip the appam and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.

  4. Now stuffed appams are ready to eat serve hot with tomato sauce..

I made that with lot of ghee which I felt is not a good idea to use as stuffing, so I made another sooji halwa version here for the stuffing.

Sooji Appam is crispy on the outside and chewy inside.
