  1. Cut and clean the fishes properly. Marinate the fishes with turmeric powder salt. Keep it aside..

  2. In a bowl take the poppy seed and mustard seed and soak it with some water for 10 mins. Then make a smooth paste with the green chillies, coriander leaves, garlic and ginger. Then add turmeric powder, salt as per taste and little water. Mix it and keep it aside..

  3. Now heat mustard oil in a kadai and fry the marinated fishes..

  4. In the same kadai add kalonji seed. When the oil become fragrant add the masala mix. Add mustard oil and then add the fried fishes. And cook it for 5 to 6 mins. Taste the seasoning at this point and add salt if required..

  5. The delicious bata fish with poppy seed is ready to serve. Enjoy it with hot steamed rice..

Add the chopped tomatoes, salt , remaining turmeric powder, red chilly powder and the green chillies.

Cover with a lid and cook on low medium heat till the tomatoes become soft and mushy.

Remove the lid and add the poppy seed paste.
