  1. Prepare 1 Cup of Green Peas Cooked.

  2. It’s 3 of Onions Medium.

  3. You need 2 of Tomatoes Medium (finely diced).

  4. You need 2 of Green chilli (finely chopped).

  5. You need 1 Teaspoon of Ginger-garlic paste.

  6. You need 3/4 Tablespoon of Coriander powder.

  7. You need 1 Teaspoon of Red Chilli powder.

  8. It’s 1/4 Teaspoon of Turmeric powder.

  9. You need 1/2 Teaspoon of Garam Masala powder.

  10. It’s 1 Tablespoon of Curd Yoghurt Dahi Set / /.

  11. You need 2 Sprigs of Curry leaves.

  12. You need 1/2 Teaspoon of Mustard seeds.

Vegan and gluten free, this curry can also be an excellent base for any vegetarian or non-vegetarian main course curry.

The traditional version of Masala Matar Curry has sweet green peas in an easy and very versatile Indian tomato spiced curry.

I buy green peas in winter in a bulk and freeze it to use throughout the year.

They are so handy to cook when you run out of time or vegetables or when guests are just a knock away from the door and you don't have anytime to chop veggies.

Mutter Masala (Green Peas Masala) instructions

  1. Chop the onions into random blocks and put them in a blender. Turn the blender on for couple of min till the onions become a coarse paste. Set aside..

  2. Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard and fennel seeds to it. Once they splutter, add the curry leaves..

  3. Now, add the onion paste to the kadai and saute it well till the mixture turns pinkish in color. Add the ginger-garlic paste at this stage..

  4. Once the raw smell of ginger-garlic is gone, toss in the tomatoes and mix well. Cover and cook for couple of minutes till the tomatoes turn mushy..

  5. Make a paste of the masala powders (coriander, chilli, turmeric and garam masala) with little bit of water and add it to the kadai. Add the required salt. Mix well..

  6. Once the oil starts to separate from the mixture, add the curd/yogurt/dahi and mix well..

  7. Now add in the cooked green peas and mix well into the masala. Cook on low flame for couple of min and turn off the stove..

  8. Serve hot..
