Ingredients of Masoor Dal Fry

  1. You need 1 cup of masoor dal.

  2. Prepare 1/3 cup of tomato chopped.

  3. Prepare 1/3 cup of onion chopped.

  4. You need 1 tsp of garlic paste.

  5. It’s 1 tbsp of cilantro chopped.

  6. It’s 2 tbsps of carrot chopped.

  7. Prepare to taste of salt.

  8. You need 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.

  9. It’s 1/4 tsp of chilli powder.

  10. Prepare 1/2 tsp of green chilli chopped.

  11. Prepare 1/4 tsp of cumin seed.

  12. Prepare 1/4 tsp of mustard seed.

  14. Prepare 1/4 tsp of garam masala.

Heat oil in a kadhai, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, curry leaves, garlic and saute till garlic gets nice golden color.

  1. Cook masoor dal with water in pressure cooker till 3 whistle.

  2. Take a pan and add oil, keep it on medium heat.

  3. Add mustard seed and cumin seeds.

  4. As it sizzles, add tomato, onion, garlic paste, green chillie and grated carrot.

  5. Saute it for about 2-3 minutes.

  6. Add the cooked masoor dal.

  7. Add some water if needed, to make the consistency like a thick paste.

  8. Add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder and garam masala.

  9. Cook it for 5-10 minutes.

  10. Serve it hot with jeera rice.

  11. Note: The dal is orange color. Once it is cooked the color becomes yellow. So to get some orange color, we are adding grated carrot.
