Beans porridge and plantain. Nigerian Beans and plantain porridge is a meal made up of ripe plantains and beans. This is tasty dish and has become popular over the years , as most parents have discovered it as a way of getting their kids to eat beans. The addition of the ripe plantains, gives the meal , that sweet taste that kids love so much.

Ingredients of Beans porridge and plantain

  1. It’s of Beans.

  2. You need of Palm oil.

  3. Prepare of Onion.

  4. You need of Scotch bonnet.

  5. You need of Cry fish.

  6. You need of Season.

  7. It’s of Spices.

  8. Prepare of Dry Fish (or any other fish).

  9. You need of Plantains.

  10. It’s of Vegetable oil for frying plantain.

A couple of months ago, a friend taught me a new method.

  1. Pick and wash your beans,put the beans in a pot add enough water and slice some onion inside and cover let it boiled till it soft.

  2. In another pot add little amount of palm oil allow to heat up,add sliced onion and stir,add your granted pepper,cry fish,season,spices,fish and little amount of water then stir, cover and allow it to steam for 2minutes then add in your per boiled beans and stir cover and allow it to steam for another 5 minutes and ready to serve.

  3. In a bowl peel and slice your plantains in desire shape, heat oil and fry your plantains until golden brown and serve with beans portaged.

Then drain the water and wash.

Beans popularly known as Ewa among the yorubas is a source of Protein and Fibre.

Beans is enjoyed in different ways, Ewa Aganyin (Mashed Beans and Sauce), as a Porridge or as a side dish to accompany Rice, Yam etc and can be made in different ways.

When made into a Porridge/Pottage, It can be had with Garri, Plantain, Yam and so on.
