Lemon rasam. Rasam is a South Indian soup common in all South Indian homes especially Tamil Brahmins. You can prepare Lemon rasam in a jiffy. It is easy and also tastes delicious.
It contains a good amount of protein as there is some amount of dal used.
It is light on the tummy, soothing during monsoons due to the lemon and ginger used.
It can be served alone with rice and papad or stir fry veggies.
You can have Lemon rasam using 14 ingredients and 3 steps. Here is how you achieve it.
Ingredients of Lemon rasam

You need 1 tsp of Mustard seeds.

It’s 1 tso of Carom seeds.

It’s 1 tsp of Coriander powder.

It’s 1 tsp of Cumin seeds.

Prepare 1 tsp of Hing.

It’s 1 tsp of Turmeric Powder.

It’s 1 tsp of Black pepper powder.

Prepare Few of Curry leaves.

You need Handful of Coriander leaves.

You need 4-5 of Ginger slices.

You need 2 of Long green chillies slits.

The rasam is made with some cooked tuvar dal (pigeon pea lentils), coarsely ground coriander-spices and lemon juice.
Tempering is also done in the recipe.
What you get is a tangy, spicy, aromatic rasam with the citrusy coriander flavor and the earthy warm flavor from the spices.

Take a bowl and add some oil. Add mustard, cumin, coriander, carom seeds, curry leaves, green chilli slits, hing, ginger slices for tempering..

Add some water and add turmeric, black pepper powder, cumin powder and salt according to your taste and let it come to boil..

Turn off the stove and squeeze the lemon at last or you can squeeze before serving..
Unlike tomato rasam or paruppu rasam, we don't add tamarind in the rasam, instead we add lemon juice.
This is thin, watery rasam can be prepared in jiffy, yet delivers amazing taste and flavor.
We just need to ensure that we add the lemon after removing the rasam from the stove.
Boil water in a sauce pot.
Add turmeric powder,thinly sliced green chillies and half tsp of rasam powder.
