Porridge Beans and yam. The food section of this blog is not reflective of how much I love beans. So to make up for that, I'll be sharing simple beans and yam porridge recipe you can use to make eating beans healthier and more delicious. In another smaller pot, pour the red oil and add onions.

I prepared to be more delicious and tasty by adding dried fish and plantains.

There was a twist in this yam and beans porridge, instead of adding the cubed yam directly to the beans I fried the yam first and this makes a whole lot of difference in this dish.

Ingredients of Porridge Beans and yam

  1. You need 3 Cups of beans(brown).

  2. You need 1 of bulb on onions.

  3. It’s 3 pieces of red pepper.

  4. You need 5 g of palm oil.

  5. Prepare 4 table spoon of creyfish.

  6. Prepare 3 of Mr chef seasoning cube (beef flavour).

  7. Prepare Half of tuber of yam.

  8. You need to taste of Salt.

  9. Prepare of Water.

  10. You need of cucumber.

I like calling it a feast in one dish because it is delicious and extremely filling.

Porridge Beans and yam instructions

  1. Wash your onions and cut,pick your beans, ground your creyfish and pepper,also slice your cucumber and set them aside.

  2. Light your cooker and pour water in it,allow it to boil.

  3. Add your picked beans and boil for 5minutes.

  4. After per boiling and washing the beans.

  5. You put the pot on fire and add some water pour in your per boiled beans.

  6. Add your onions grounded creyfish,salt,pepper, and seasoning cube.

  7. Then cover the pot and cook for 50minutes.

  8. Then add your already cutted yam and cover.

  9. Cook for another 20minutes then add your palm oil.

  10. Allow to cook for 1minute then your food is ready.

  11. Garnish with cucumber and serve.

Enjoy your Nigerian red beans and yam porridge and forget hunger for the day because it's filling.

When the beans porridge is soft, add the onions, crayfish (if using it), pepper and seasoning.

Note: To get the most out of beans, it is best to cook it with one of the following: sweet yam, ripe/unripe plantain, sweet potatoes or baby corn.

If you added fish, sweet potatoes or baby corn in it, then you can simply mix it all once more and enjoy your meal.

Or you may cook your beans and yam separately, for example, fry the yam or plantain and serve it as the main course and side dish.
