Dal palak. The combination of dal and palak is as tasty as it is loaded with nutrition. In this recipe a simple toor dal preparation gets a bunch of nutrients because of the addition of fresh spinach. This is all you need along with some steamed rice to have a meal that is healthy and tasty.

Dal palak is nothing but lentils cooked with spinach & tempered with basic Indian spices.

It is a healthy, delicious and one of the most made palak recipes in Indian homes.

This simple protein rich dish is served with plain rice, chapati/ roti or different kinds of bhakri.

You can cook Dal palak using 13 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Dal palak

  1. Prepare 1 cup of green gram (soaked in water for 10 mins).

  2. Prepare 1 cup of spinach washed and roughly chopped.

  3. It’s 1 inch of ginger sliced.

  4. It’s 4 of Garlic cloves sliced.

  5. It’s 4 of green chillies chopped.

  6. Prepare 1 of tomato chopped.

  7. It’s 1 tsp of turmeric powder.

  8. Prepare to taste of salt and red chilli powder.

  9. Prepare as needed of water.

  10. Prepare of FOR TEMPERING.

  11. It’s 1 of onion sliced.

  12. Prepare 1 tsp of cumin seeds.

  13. It’s 2 tsp of corinader leaves.

Dal Palak - No Onion No Garlic Version.

Dal palak instructions

  1. First step wash and soak dal for 10 mins,slice ginger,garlic and chop chillies.wash and roughly chop spinach..

  2. Now take lentils in a vessel, add 2 cups of water,ginger, garlic, chillies, red chilli powder,turmeric powder and tomato mix well.now cook till lentils are soft and has absorbed all water.now again add 2 cups of water.

  3. Now simmer for 5 mins,dont smash the lentils. Add salt and mix well.now add spinach and simmer for 5 mins.now heat 3 tbsn oil in a pan..
