Sambar rice. Sambar rice also known as sambar sadam is one of the everyday foods from the Tamil cuisine. It is nothing but Sambar and rice cooked together as a quick fix to a meal. There are so many ways sambar rice can be made, this may not be a authentic style of making sambar sadam.

Sambar rice or sambar sadam is an easy to prepare delicious one-pot meal.

Making sambar rice is similar to making Bisi bele bath. only the taste is different.

You can cook Sambar rice using 12 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook that.

Ingredients of Sambar rice

  1. Prepare 1 cup of pigeon pea dal.

  2. Prepare 2 cups of rice.

  3. You need 1 of small cup onion,brinjal, pumpkin, tomato, potato,each.

  4. Prepare 2 of tbspoon sambar masala.

  5. It’s 1 of tspoon red chilly powder.

  6. Prepare 1 of tspoon turmeric powder.

  7. Prepare 1 of tspoon salt.

  8. It’s 2 of tspoon tamarind pulp.

  9. It’s leaves of Curry.

  10. You need 3 of tbspoons oil.

  11. Prepare of Cumin and Fenugreek seeds 1/2 tspoon.

  12. You need 2 of tbspoon clarified butter.

Sambar rice step by step

  1. Cook rice and pigeon pea dal.cook separately.

  2. Chop all veggies and keep aside.heat big vessel add oil to it.once hot add cumin seeds and Fenugreek seeds.soak tamarind in water to make pulp..

  3. Add all veggies gradually to vessel.mix well and cook for five minutes add turmeric powder, Red chilly powder,sambar masala (contains coariander seeds, Fenugreek seeds,turdal,curry leaves and dry chillies).

  4. Add water and allow it to cook till veggies becomes soft.add cooked dal and little water to it.taste add tamarind pulp,salt if required add some masala again.give nice boil.

  5. Now add cooked rice to it mash little.mix well add desi ghee and serve with podi chutney and curd.tastes yum yum ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹ definitely try this once you all will love it..

Add the sambar powder gradually while stirring,as there are chances of forming lumps.

Add this to the cooked rice.

I used a pot shaped pressure cooker for making sambar rice.

Add the mashed dal and mix well with out mashing the veggies.
