Soak Chana dal for 3-4 hours.Wash and grind(fine)with 1 big chunk of ginger and garlic cloves.Mix some water to the batter.It should be of pouring consistency.Keep aside for an hour..

To prepare masala peanuts first coarse grind the roasted peanuts. Now grate 1 chunk of ginger and finely chop the onion and Chillies.Heat oil in a pan.Add ginger, green Chillies and onion.When golden brown add peanuts.Add salt and red chilli powder.Cook for a minute and remove from flame.Let it cool down..

Place the Appam pan over the flame.Grease each cavity with little oil.Pour some chana dal batter in each cavity such that it fills only half of the cavity.Now put masala peanuts in each cavity over the batter.Cover it with some more batter to fill the cavity.Cook on low to medium flame for 3-4 minutes.Flip to cook on the other side.Cook for another 3-4 minutes till golden brown.Serve with Coriander chutney..
