I love making this halwa, it is one of the basic halwa recipe which anyone can make.

This halwa gets its taste from the roasting part, so keep cooking the halwa in ghee till it gets nice and golden.

Green chana halwa step by step

  1. Wash and soak the green chana for 5-6 hrs. Then in a mixie blend it. It should be fine paste with little portion coarsely blended. Remove it in a vessel..

  2. Now heat ghee, add the grounded green chana and roast it till colour changes and it gets aromat. Roast it on slow to medium. Will take approx an hr to get best results. Will actually taste like almond halwa..

  3. Now add milkmaid, milk and stir well..

  4. Now when the milk also gets mixed and evaporates, add sugar. Let it melt nicely. Add the cardamom powder and dry fruits. Mix well..

  5. When done take a bowl of any shape and remove it in a serving plate. Garnish it with raisins and few chopped dry fruits. Tasts yum. We always have halwa with papad. Do try it, you will really like it. ❤.

Strain the soaked chana dal and place it in a pressure cooker.

Let the pressure cool itself; open the cooker and dry off any milk left by cooking on high heat.
