Easiest Way to Cook At Home Akkaravadisal Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Akkaravadisal. Akkaravadisal also called as Akkara Adisil is a traditional Iyengar speciality. I have already posted akkaravadisal with sugar version, this recipe is Iyengar Style which uses jaggery, the recipe is also different so wanted to make a separate post, also we have Gokulashtami tomorrow so thought of posting it now. I love anything sweet so its was sure a treat for me , akkaravadisal is always my.

Akkaravadisal should be in semi solid state unlike our usual sweet pongal.

It will tend to thicken as time proceeds.

Switch off the flame, add cardamom powder, saffron soaked.

You can have Akkaravadisal using 11 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Akkaravadisal

  1. You need of Pongal rice pacharasi.

  2. Prepare 1 cup of rice.

  3. You need 1/4 cup of Moong dal.

  4. Prepare 1 litre of Milk.

  5. You need 200 ml of Water.

  6. You need 2 cup of Jaggery.

  7. You need 1/4 cup of Sugar.

  8. You need 75 ml of Ghee.

  9. You need 10 of Cashew.

  10. It’s 10 of Raisins.

  11. Prepare 8 of Cardamom.

Akkaravadisal / akkara adisal is similar to sakkarai pongal.

I have never tried this at home, but have tasted in SRC mess when I was staying in hostel.

It was oozing with ghee and yummy.

After that I haven't tasted or tried to make at home.

Akkaravadisal instructions

  1. Wash and Soak the rice for 30 minutes.

  2. In a kadai add ghee moong dal and roast until the flavour comes.add the soaked rice and roast it and keep aside..

  3. Boil the milk.In a sauce pan add jaggery and add little water to melt the jaggery completely and strain it for any impurities..

  4. In a heavy bottom cooker or kadai add 3\4 of milk and water.let it come to boiling then add the rice and dal..

  5. Wait the rice and dal to cook.it takes 15 minutes.After it is cooked add the jaggery syrup and sugar.leave it another 5minutes..

  6. Take a kadai add ghee,after the ghee melts add cashew and raisins and roast it.Add the cardamom powder..

  7. Delicious akkaravadisal is ready..
