Lauki Chana Daal Meal. Lauki Chana Dal is the perfect one-pot meal to give you the wholesomeness of bottle gourd and lentils. As summer peaks it gets harder to spend time in the kitchen. But also, Mother Nature makes sure we stay hydrated by flooding us with the best summer bounty.
Lauki is also known as Doodhi or Giya and one of my favorite dishes while growing up.
In the South, we make Kootu with the Lauki that was cooked along with lentils and coconut.
When I got married I noticed many similarities with this dish and Kootu.

You need 1 cup of Chana daal.

You need of Lauki 1 small piece cut in cubes.

Wash and Soak chana daal for half hour.

Put adequate amount of water in daal and put on stove. Add to it ginger garlic paste, finely chopped tomatoes, curry leaves, red chilli, haldi and salt..

Let it cook until the daal is tender..

Separately in a pot add water and let the lauki boil and get half tender..

When the daal is tender add lauki to it, and cook until lauki is fully cooked. Add water if needed..

Add roasted cumin black pepper and garam masala and put on dum for 10 minutes..

Prepare baghar by adding oil, then lal sabut mrch then garlic and curry leaves..

Pour the baghar over the daal and cover with lid. Switch off stove..

Serve with chapati and salad❤.
