Recipe: Tasty Mandazi Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Mandazi. Have used many other mandazi recipes , I find this one to be the easiest and best. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cardamom, and salt. Make a well in the center, then use a rubber spatula to mix in the egg and coconut milk until the dough comes together.

It is one of the principal dishes in the cuisine of the Swahili people who inhabit the Coastal Region of Kenya and Tanzania.

The dish is popular in the region, as it is convenient to make, can be eaten.

Mandazi, also called maandazi, n'dao, maandaazi, mahamri or mamri is a type of fried bread from East Africa, especially the Swahili coast of Tanzania and Kenya.

You can have Mandazi using 10 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Mandazi

  1. Prepare 1 kg of self raising flour.

  2. You need 1 tablespoon of iliki.

  3. Prepare 150 ml of vegetable oil.

  4. You need 200 of grms sugar.

  5. You need 1 tablespoon of baking powder.

  6. You need 1 cup of milk.

  7. Prepare 1 cup of water.

  8. You need 1/2 of tea spoon egg yellow food colour.

  9. It’s 1 of egg.

  10. You need 2 liters of oil for frying.

Tanzania is one of the East African countries, facing the Indian Ocean, sharing the eastern and northern borders with Kenya and Uganda, the western border with Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and southern.

Mandazi is a slightly sweet form of fried dough that originated from East African street food.

I used to go online to learn how to make Mandazi, and every recipe I used to try never gave me the results I wanted or expected, until just last year when I combined different recipes together and had amazing results.

Mandazi are so yummy and addictive.

Mandazi instructions

  1. Mix flour, iliki,sugar,baking powder.

  2. Add eggs, milk, water and make a dough that is not too soft..

  3. Add oil and cover it with a plastic paper bag and leave it in direct sunlight for 30 min- 1hr for it to raise.

  4. After 1hr place it in your working table and cut your shape..

  5. Deep fry them for 5 min till golden brown..

  6. Serve and take with tea, fruit juice and soda..

  7. Enjoy…
