Recipe: Tasty Papdi Chaat Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Papdi Chaat. Crunchy, tangy, hot, and sweet flavors combine to make papdi chaat delicious to eat as a snack or a great alternative to a meal. Also known as papri chaat or paapri chaat, it is a popular fast food served in northern India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Papdi chaat can take on many variations, lending itself open to different toppings, condiments, and flavorings.

I still remember having Papdi chaat for the first time in a Punjabi restaurant in Mumbai (can't remember the restaurant's name).

Just like all the chaat recipes, this is also tongue tickling chaat.

It is sweet, tangy and spicy, all the flavors are combined.

You can have Papdi Chaat using 9 ingredients and 8 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Papdi Chaat

  1. It’s 2 of potato boiled and mashed.

  2. Prepare 1 tsp of chaat masala.

  3. You need 1/3 cup of onion chopped.

  4. You need 1/3 cup of tomato chopped.

  5. Prepare 1/3 cup of tamarind chutney.

  6. Prepare 1/3 cup of sev ( gram flour noodles).

  7. You need 2 tbsps of cilantro chopped.

  8. Prepare to taste of salt.

  9. It’s 1 of green chilli chopped.

For making this, flat puri aka papdi is used unlike the puffed puri is used for dahi puri.

There is one similar recipe on the blog sev puri which also uses the papdi..

But sev puri is Mumbai style chaat.

Papdi Chaat step by step

  1. Take a pan, add mashed potato, chaat masala, onion, salt and green chilli.

  2. Mix it well.

  3. Take papadi (I took ready made from grocery store).

  4. Arrange papdi in a plate, make small balls of mash potato mixture and put it on top of Papdi.

  5. Add tamarind chutney about 1/2 tsp on each papdi.

  6. Add few piece of tomato and pinch cilantro on each papdi.

  7. Add sev on the top of each papdi.

  8. Serve immediately after preparing. Enjoy papdi chaat.
