Methi Dal Poori. Crispy Methi Dal poori is a deep fried Indian bread mostly served in Indian breakfast on special occasions. I am sharing here How to make perfect puffed, whole wheat crispy masala dal poori recipe which will give you soft inside and crispy outside puri/poori. Combined with the goodness of fresh methi leaves, ajwain, curd and basic spices, Dahi Methi Poori turns out as a clear winner during any meal.
Using Pearl millet flour or bajra along with cooked dal and greens makes this dish all the more healthy!

Ingredients of Methi Dal Poori

Prepare 2 Cups of Atta / wheat flour.

You need 1 Cup of Arhar Dal (boiled).

You need 2 tbsp of Dry Methi Leaves.

It’s 1 tsp of Green Chillies Paste.

It’s 1/2 tsp of Haldi / turmeric.

It’s 1 tsp of Garam Masala / whole spice powder.

You need 1 pinch of Hing /asafoetida.

You need as per taste of Salt.

Prepare as per need of Oil.
Divide the dough into equal balls and roll out each ball into a round puri.
I have tried many recipes with methi leaves, and this methi puri is in my to do list for a long time.
Last week i got a fresh bunch of methi leaves from the Indian store and finally made this methi poori.
It tasted very well and i had this for my lunch along with a glass of Masala chaas.
Methi Dal Poori step by step

Take a large bowl and add all the dry ingredients. Start kneading them. Add little water and keep kneading. The dough should be smooth and the stiffness should medium..

Cover the dough with a samp cloth and keep aside for 20 minutes..

After 20 minutes, knead the dough again. Divide the dough into equal sized balls. Roll them out into pooris..

Deep fry until golden brown and crispy and all puffed up. Enjoy with Chana Masala or Aloo ki subji..
An overall healthy Dal with higher protein content due to mixture of dals and all vitamins of methi leaves.
This I served with Nachani - Wheat Poori another healthy poori though deep fried.
Nachani is Millet that is high in calcium and is very beneficial to health.
The poori should be neither too thick nor too thin.
Heat up oil in a pan on high heat.
