Cabbage and pumpkin tadka dal instructions

  1. Wash and soak whole moong overnight.. wash again in the morning and boil with 1 tsp salt, chilli and turmeric powder… with enough water to cover the lentil… pressure cook for 4 -5 whistles. Keep aside to cool..

  2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a kadhai, then add chopped onions and fry till golden, add chopped tomatoes, saute then add ginger garlic paste, tadka dal masala, 1/2tsp salt and mix… add a little water to cook everything on medium flame… cook till the oil leaves sides..

  3. Add chopped cabbage and pumpkin mix well, add a little water and cover lid, let it cook till the veggies are tender..

  4. Once the vegetable is cooked, add the cooked moong to it and mix well, add chopped coriander and slit green chillies, garam masala and cream… mix well.

  5. Tempering: heat oil in a tadka pan, add chopped garlic and fry till golden… pour this over the tadka and serve hot..

Cover with water and bring it to a boil.

Cabbage kootu is a slightly thick consistency dal made with a ground coconut paste and spices.

The taste of cabbage is not felt in the recipe.
