  1. It’s of Elephant foot yam.

  2. You need of Oil.

  3. It’s of medium size tomato.

  4. Prepare of crushed fennel seeds.

  5. It’s of Crushed garlic.

  6. Prepare of curry leaves.

  7. You need of Chilli powder.

  8. Prepare of Salt.

  9. Prepare of Blanching yam.

  10. It’s of Turmeric powder.

  11. Prepare of Salt.

  12. Prepare of lemon's juice.

First, lets do the senai kilangu prep Clean, scrape, peel and wash the senai kilangu.

Elephant foot yam fry - step by step preparation is given below.

It is a south indian type of fry which you can serve as side dish along with mor kuzhambu, puzhi kuzhambu, rasam, sambar and curd rice.

Chettinad elephant foot yam fry (senai kilangu varuval) step by step

  1. Remove skin from elephant foot yam and cut them into cubes and blanch with turmeric powder 1/2 spoon, some salt and 1/2 lemon juice for 15 to 20 minutes. Don not overcook the yam. It should be 70 percent cooked. Have all ingredients ready.

  2. Take a kadai add oil and when its heated add crushed fennel, crushed garlic and curry leaves.

  3. When garlic is golden, add the tomatoes and salt and cook for 2 minutes.

  4. Now add the blanched yam and mix in the oil and allow the yam to get roasted on medium low flame. Stir occasionally till its fully roasted. This will take around 10 to 15 minutes.

  5. Now add chilli powder and mix and cook in medium low flame for another 5 minutes.

  6. Turn off flame when its roasted and changes colour..

  7. Serve as sides for any kind of rice dish..
