In this recipe medium or soft tofu and vegetables are braised in a simple, flavorful mixture of soy sauce, stock, and sugar, with a splash of Asian sesame oil added at the end.

Braised tofu with vegetable 瓦煲豆腐 is an authentic home-cooked dish popular among the Chinese household.

  1. Cut tofu into thin slices and fry in sesame oil.

  2. In a small bowl add mix soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, cayenne, maple syrup.

  3. Peel and cut the carrot into small pieces, set aside.

  4. After tofu is fried, cut and fry the onion, sliced longways. Add the garlic, salt, pepper, and white scallions..

  5. After onions are cooked, add the fried tofu and soy sauce mix. Sprinkle carrot and some extra raw onion on top. Add one cup of water and bring to boil for 10 minutes.

  6. Cut to Green scallions on top and add sesame seeds. Serve hot and enjoy!.

If you do not have a clay pot, prepare it in a large pan or the wok.
