Tomato Halwa. Wash and shred the rose petals and tulsi leaves and reserve. Boil the sugar with ½-cup water and make a single-thread syrup and keep aside. Tomato halwa/ Thakkali halwa is a sweet, slightly tangy, naturally colored and glossy looking delicious sweet containing the goodness of tomatoes.

Dessicated coconut is completely optional but adding.

Tomato Halwa / Thakkali Halwa, a rich dessert prepared from tomatoes and sugar & commonly served on the day of Ramadan by Tamil Muslims.

To make this halwa more healthy, replace sugar by jaggery.

Ingredients of Tomato Halwa

  1. You need 2 of Chopped tomato.

  2. Prepare 100 grams of Mawa.

  3. It’s 1 tablespoon of Pure Ghee.

  4. It’s 5-10 of Finely chopped almonds.

  5. You need 5-10 of Finely chopped cashews.

  6. It’s 1 teaspoon of Cardamom powder.

  7. You need 1/4 cup of Sugar.

Tomato Halwa step by step

  1. Make tomato puree..

  2. Take a wok and heat deshi ghee then add cashwes and almonds and fry them. Then add tomato puree and fry until it becomes thick..

  3. Once the tomato puree is completely thickened, add mawa in it and mix it well and add sugar in it..

  4. Now fry it well until it thickens completely..

  5. Garnish it with cardamom powder and serve hot..

When the halwa is set, loosen around the edges using a knife and invert the cup on to a plate.

Remove the cup and enjoy the 'sweet' smiling Tomato Halwa with children.
