Rajma Prawn Curry. A mildly spiced delicious curry cooked with kidney beans, spices and tomato. In our home, we mostly cook this recipe for our breakfast. Melt-in-mouth Rajma Beans cooked in a creamy curry paired with a soft chapati makes a hearty meal.
Lentils, chickpeas, peas, black eyed peas and red kidney beans are some of them used to make curries.
Rajma chawal is a favorite combo in many North Indian households where rajma masala is served with chawal (rice).
Drain the water from the beans and keep the water aside for later use.

Ingredients of Rajma Prawn Curry

You need 1 cup of Rajma (kidney beans) soaked overnight.

You need 2-3 tbsp of urad dal (Black gram lentil) soaked for 2-3 hours.

You need 1 cup of prawns cleaned.

You need 3 tbsp of oil.

You need 2-3 of green cardamoms.

It’s 1 inch of cinnamon stick.

It’s 1 of onion chopped.

It’s 4-5 of cloves.

Prepare 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste.

It’s 1 tsp of tomato paste.

It’s 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.

You need 1 tsp of red chilli powder.

Prepare 1 tsp of kitchen king masala / garam masala.

You need to taste of salt.

It’s 1 tsp of ghee.

Prepare 1 tsp of coriander leaves.
Now, add salt, soaked rajma, ¾ teaspoon Garam Masala Powder and mix.
Rajma masala is a very popular Indian dish.
In this dish, rajma or red kidney beans are cooked in a rich curry made with onion, tomato and a bunch of spices.
Top it with a dollop of ghee and serve with steamed rice.
Rajma Prawn Curry step by step

Pressure cook the rajma and urad dal in 2 cups water for 7-8 minutes on low flame after the first whistle. Keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and fry the prawns till they change colour. Drain and keep aside..

Temper the same oil with cardamoms, cinnamon and cloves. Saute for a few seconds. Add the onion and fry till light brown..

Now add the ginger-garlic paste, tomato paste and all the powdered spices mixed with some water. Saute till the oil separates..

Add the boiled rajma and the fried prawns. Simmer on a low flame for 2-3 minutes. Adjust water according to the gravy desired..

When done, add ghee and switch off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with either plain steamed rice, jeera rice, pulao or any kind of Indian bread..
Although it will taste amazing with any Indian bread or rice dish.
But the combination of rajma and chawal aka rice is just heavenly.
Add the mashed rajma back into the curry to thicken it.
Finally, add the coriander leaves, kasoori methi, green chilies, garam masala, and ghee.
Give it a mix and turn the flame off.
