Recipe: Tasty Makai Methi Vada Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Makai Methi Vada. Makai na vada or dhebra is a traditional Gujarati recipe made with makai flour (cornmeal) and regular spices. It is a crispy and soft deep-fried snack loved by kids and all age groups. It is also known as makai na dhebra and required very less ingredients to make it.

Add the remaining ingredients except the curds.

Mix well, use the curds to knead into a soft dough.

Makai na khatta vada/Dhebra is an authentic and traditional recipe from Rural Gujarat which I learned from a good friend of mine.

You can cook Makai Methi Vada using 13 ingredients and 3 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Makai Methi Vada

  1. Prepare 1 cup of chopped methi leaves.

  2. You need 1 cup of makai flour.

  3. It’s 3 tbsp of bajra flour.

  4. Prepare 3 tbsp of whole wheat flour.

  5. You need 3 tbsp of jowar flour.

  6. It’s 3 tbsp of sooji.

  7. You need 3 tbsp of chilli, garlic, ginger paste.

  8. You need 2 tbsp of sugar.

  9. Prepare 1/2 cup of curd.

  10. Prepare 2 tbsp of oil.

  11. You need To taste of Salt.

  12. It’s 2 tbsp of sesame seeds.

  13. Prepare As required of Oil for frying.

Corn meal,crushed corn kernels, some whole corn nib-lets and few spices are added with curd to make a dough.

The peeled and washed corn should look like this: Makai na Vada Back home the season is just right for some hot Makai Vada/ Maize flour Vade accompanied by its partner in crime, a piping hot cup of mint+lemongrass+masala cha and not tea.

We never confuse cha with tea.

Makai Methi Vada step by step

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and knead in to semi soft dough using enough water. Divide the dough into equal portions. and thick circle in between your palms..

  2. Heat oil in a pan add vada and deep fry on a medium flame till golden brown colour from both sides Drain on a paper.

  3. Serving with tea, store in an air tight container and consume with in 2-days..

The day before janmashtami which is Shitala satam.

On that day, every one eats day before stale food without heating. these vadas and dhebras are eaten with pickle or mango chunda.

But now a day people make it any time of the year to just to enjoy the taste.

Dhebra is an Indian bread, popular in Gujarati cuisine.

It is made of bajra flour, alone or together with other flours, and is often perked up with different ingredients like spices and herbs.
