The original recipe was called Honey Nut Pound Cake, but I changed the title because the end result is more like a quick bread than a pound cake, and I didn't want to confuse or disappoint anyone that tried it out.
To me, pound cake is dense with a delicate crumb, and this is more fluffy and cake-like on the inside.
Date nut cake was an obvious choice, but I wanted to do something a little different.
With Rosh Hashanah coming up, my mind wandered to honey cake.
Honey Nut Pound Cake instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F..

Grease and flour a 10" tube pan, set aside..

In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, shortening and sugar until creamy. About 3 minutes..

Beat in the sour cream, honey, vanilla..

Beat in the eggs, one at a time until full incorporated..

Now mix in milk..

Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder..

Slowly mix into wet ingredients until just blended..

Fold in the chopped pecans..

Pour cake mixture into pan and bake on a baking tray for 2 hours. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center and it comes out clean..

Cool in pan for 10 minutes then remove..

Serve with fresh whipped cream and a drizzle of honey. Delicious!.
