I woke up today wanting a sweet potato pie, but due to having a medical procedure done a few days ago I needed something easy.

Tried this pie and loved it.

Sweet potato pie is the sweeter, creamier Southern cousin of pumpkin pie.

And it's the antidote for pumpkin spice haters.

  1. preheat oven to 350.

  2. Peel and boil yams/sweet potatoes until soft.

  3. Drain yams/sweet potatoes mix with butter in medium bowl..

  4. Add sugar, milk, vanilla extract, eggs, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mixing well..

  5. Pour in pie crust and bake..

While sweet potato pie does require cooking a few sweet potatoes, it doesn't require cooking the filling, and if you've got a tart pan you can skip blind baking the crust.

Sweet Potato Pie has always been my favorite and I'm using your recipe from now on.

This Thanksgiving I made one pie with regular sweet potatoes and one with purple sweet potatoes.

It came out the most beautiful shade of purple!
