Tiramisu, however, has a few signature components that set it apart.

The filling starts with a zabaglione — which is a fancy name for egg yolks whisked with sugar and marsala wine (or rum, in our case) over a double-boiler until light, pale and foamy.

This zabaglione establishes the flavor of the whole dish. "Carry me up" is the translation for tiramisu, pronounced tir-ruh-mee-SOO.

Taramiso instructions

  2. Add the ingredients below.

  3. Dip all biscuits into the brown mixture and put 2 layers on a medium tray.

  4. Put half white mixture on top of the biscuit.

This rich Italian dessert is usually made with mascarpone, a buttery rich, slightly sweet and smooth Italian cream cheese.

In a small bowl, beat cream until it begins to thicken.

Have the eggs and mascarpone at room temperature before making this recipe.

That will help them mix together more smoothly.
