Nariyal Sooji Sheera / Coconut Sheera (Halwa) - A variation of traditional Indian sweet "Sheera" but made using coconut along with from semolina, milk, sugar and ghee. This quickly made dessert flavored with coconut, powdered nuts and cardamom is perfect to make for any occasion. Now add the coconut slices and simmer until the water is well mixed and halwa has reached a good thick consistency (please do not boil or overcook else it will harden).

Different kinds of halwa (a peculiar kind of Indian sweet dish prepared with nuts, sugar, milk and other ingredients) are loved everywhere in India.

Suji (semolina) halwa, Gajar (carrot) halwa, moong dal halwa, and coconut halwa are the most popular among them.

A coconut halwa can be made from freshly grated coconut or dried coconut pieces.

  1. It’s 1 cup of fine semolina 1/2 cup coconut powder 1 cup sugar 130 gram salted butter 300 ml milk Saffron 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder Pistachios Sugar pearls or any fondant decoration.

Semolina - I used fine white semolina.

You can also use coarse semolina/rawa/suji.

Coconut Milk - we used thick variety.

When it is half browned, add the gram flour.

  1. In a pan melt the butter and add semolina Roast until golden brown Add coconut powder and roast for one minute Add milk and stir until all milk is absorbed Add sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved and the butter leaves side Halwa is ready. Transfer in a serving dish and decorate. I have decorated with knife and garnished with pistachios. Please use your imagination and garnish with any fruits, fondant dry fruits etc..

Now cook on a low flame till a light brown colour is obtained.
