  2. It’s 1/2 cup of Rava Semolina / -.

  7. It’s 3 of Onion - medium.

  8. It’s 1/4 cup of coconut Grated -.

  9. It’s 1 teaspoon of Ginger-garlic chopped - each.

  10. Prepare 2 teaspoons of Kashmiri chilli powder -.

  11. Prepare 1 teaspoon of Coriander powder -.

  12. It’s 1/4 teaspoon of Turmeric powder -.

  13. It’s 2 of Cinnamon - very small sticks.

  14. Prepare 1/4 tspn of Cumin seeds -.

  15. Prepare 3 to 4 tablespoons of Tamarind juice -(you can add more or less).

  16. You need of Coriander leaves - little chopped.

  17. Prepare of Salt.

Mix well so as to let the fish absorb all the ingredients.

Stuffed Pomfret Fry is a brilliant stuffed fish recipe from the Goan cuisine.

It is made with freshly bought pomfret variety fish coated and stuffed with spicy masala and shallow fried in oil until done.

This dish is an exotic and outstanding side dish for any meal.

Goan Stuffed Fish Fry step by step

  1. Wash and clean the mackerels /ayla Remove head and fins.Now slit them in the middle,keeping one side closed.

  2. Make some cuts in the fish and marinate them with turmeric powder and salt.Keep aside.

  3. Heat oil in a pan.Add cinnamon stick and cumin seeds and let them splutter.Add onion,ginger, garlic and grated coconut.Saute till they become light brown..

  4. Add chilli powder,coriander powder and turmeric powder.Saute well.Add tamarind juice and chopped coriander.Sprinkle enough salt.Remove from fire..

  5. Let it cool down.Grind it to a coarse paste without adding water..

  6. Now stuff the mackerels/ayla with this masala.Close the fish carefully.If there is remaining masala(u will have),spread it outside the fish.Keep for 1 hr..

  7. After 1 hr,mix together rava,chilli powder and salt in a plate.Roll each fish in rava mix carefully..

  8. Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish in low-medium flame.Fry on both sides.Remove from fire and enjoy.

If the masala paste is thin then it would not stick to the fish.

Coat the entire fish with this paste.

Place oil in a shallow pan, once oil is quite hot, shallow fry the stuffed Kingfish.

If you want it to be crispy coat the fish with semolina and/ flour.
