Martabak Manis. This is a very popular sweet treat in Indonesia. Every one loves Martabak Manis, a very thick "pancake" with the traditional filling are chocolate sprinkle, crush peanut, sesame seed, condense milk combine in one or cheese and condense milk. Murtabak Manis is a very popular street snack sold by vendors in Indonesia.

Martabak Manis (Indonesian Sweet Pancake) is also called Martabak Bangka or Martabak Terang Bulan.

In Malaysia, it is known as Apam Balik.

Manis means sweet since Indonesia also has a savory kind of Martabak called Martabak Telor or Martabak Telur (Deep Fried Beef Rolls).

You can have Martabak Manis using 21 ingredients and 8 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Martabak Manis

  1. It’s of Item A.

  2. Prepare 225 g of Wheat flour.

  3. You need 25 g of Tapioka flour.

  4. Prepare 30 g of Sugar.

  5. Prepare 1/4 tsp of Salt.

  6. Prepare 1/8 of Vanilla Essence.

  7. You need 250 ml of Water.

  8. You need 1 of Egg yolk.

  9. It’s of Item B.

  10. Prepare 1 of Egg.

  11. You need 1/2 tsp of Baking powder.

  12. You need 1/2 tsp of chocolate paste.

  13. It’s of Item C.

  14. It’s 1 tablespoon of Baking powder.

  15. You need 1 tablespoon of Baking soda.

  16. It’s 1 tablespoon of Water.

  17. It’s of Item D (fillings).

  18. You need of Margerine Butter.

  19. It’s of Sugar.

  20. It’s of Nutella/Chocolate spread.

  21. You need of Shredded cheddar cheese.

It is a very popular snack in Indonesia and normally sold by street vendor in the evening.

Martabak Manis step by step

  1. Whisk all Item A for 10 mins & let it sit for an hour.

  2. After an hour, add in Item B to Item A. Whisk for 3 mins and divide batter into 2..

  3. Prepare a non stick pan. Medium heat. Start mixing up Item C first, then add into One of the batter. Pour one of the batter into the pan..

  4. Remember. Medium heat. Wait for the holes to appear..

  5. Once 70% of the holes seen, Sprinkle in about 2 tablespoon of sugar. Lower than the heat and place a lid over it..

  6. Put the serving on a plate. Spread butter on it. Followed by Nutella/chocolate spread, shredded cheddar cheese & condensed milk. (If u are mad, u can put more of each).

  7. Cut it into half & fold it..

  8. Repeat step 3 onwards for the 2nd batter..

It's topped with lots and lots of margarine.
