Luchi aloor dum. One of the famous Bengali main dishes, Luchi Aloor Dum is an easy recipe that you can make for your loved ones in breakfast. Luchi is nothing but the poori that North Indians eat with spicy potato curry, and is deep fried in ghee traditionally. Luchi aloor dum is a popular Bengali dish that is prepared as a main course meal on regular days.

The dum aloo is prepared by a unique method with special bengali garam masala, which adds to the flavour of the dish.

Ingredients of Luchi aloor dum

  1. You need of Ingredients of dough :.

  2. Prepare of white flour.

  3. It’s of salt.

  4. It’s of vegetable oil.

  5. You need of Water as required.

  6. It’s of Ingredients of aloor dum.

  7. It’s of potato cut into halves.

  8. Prepare of onion paste.

  9. You need of ginger - garlic paste.

  10. You need of tomato puree.

  11. It’s of turmeric powder.

  12. You need of kashmiri lal mirch powder.

  13. It’s of chaat masala.

  14. Prepare of salt.

  15. You need of mustard oil.

  16. It’s of sugar.

Luchi is a deep-fried flatbread made with plain flour or maida.

It is similar to poori, which is made of wholemeal flour or atta.

Aloor dum is a spicy baby potato curry.

When I had posted the luchi recipe, some of you had asked me to post the Bengali style dum aloor recipe.

Luchi aloor dum instructions

  1. Make a dough and cover with wet cloth and keep aside..

  2. Heat a pan with mustard oil. Add onion ginger and garlic paste on low heat and saute for a while. Add tomato puree salt and saute. Add turmeric, kashmiri red chilli and chaat masala powder. Add potato and fry on medium heat for 2 min after that cover with lid and cook until potato softens and masala seperates oil..

  3. Add 2 -3 tablespoon water,sugar and bring it to boil. Aloo dum is ready..

  4. Heat a another pan with vegetable oil and fry the luchi..

Luchi and aloo dum have become a fortnightly breakfast at home. so I make the Bengali aloo dum in two ways. here is the onion-tomato version.

There is another variation made with yogurt which I will also post.
