  1. Add the yellow lentils in 5-6 cups of water and let is boil..

  2. Once lentils are half cooked, add the Pumpkin, Papaya and Tomatoes into the same dish and let them cook. Add salt and turmeric powder and stir, and bring to complete boil..

  3. Have the sliced onions, chilies, black pepper corns, mustard seeds, date fruit (de-seeded) heated in the microwave for 3 minutes / sauteed in dry pan until the dates are smoked..

  4. Put the above ingredients in the blender and make a paste out of it. Mix the spicy paste into the lentil mixture.. stir for a moment and close the fire…

  5. Heat the oil in a small pan, put the cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let is start spurting out. Close the fire.. and pour the oil to the Lentil Papaya Pumpkin koottu. Ideal to go with Dosas, or plain rice.
