There are several types of Goulash.

One of the most popular is Hungarian goulash, which is a seasoned stew made up of meat and vegetables.

It's a classic American goulash made up of ground beef, tomatoes, broth and pasta.

American goulash is made with a tomato baste, ground beef, and elbow macaroni.

Topped with a variety of seasoning to give it that rich, savory flavor.

I actually remember eating this in elementary school.

Goulash, American instructions

  1. Dice the onion add to the ground sirloin and cook with the beef. Dice up the pepper and gather the minced garlic. I used an old fashioned potato masher to mash the meat into small pieces. Cook the pasta according to directions on the package..

  2. There is a lot of juices so I drained it. Keep simmering the onion and ground sirloin..

  3. Add the pepper and garlic. Simmer 10 minutes. Add the rest of the seasonings. Simmer 10 minutes. Add the tomatoes..

  4. Stir in and simmer 7 minutes then add the sauce. Simmer 20 minutes. Now add the honey stir in and taste. Spoon the pasta over and add a 1/2 cup of the pasta water. Dont adjust the salt till after you add the grated Parmesan cheese. Add the cheese stir often for 5 minutes. Taste and adjust the flavors..

  5. Let rest covered for about 10 minutes. Serve and add toppings if desired. I hope you enjoy!!!.

One of my favorites back when school lunches were actually good.

It's similar to what many people refer to as beef-a-roni or Chili Mac.

Easy, cheap and comfort food all rolled into one huge pot! (It is always called American Chop Suey here, but while I was living in LA friends called it Goulash - so I've compromised!) Amercian Goulash is a delicious and easy one pot dinner recipe that combines ground beef with elbow macaroni, peppers, onions, tomatoes and tons of flavor!.

This easy recipe is a family favorite in our house.

The easiest way to describe it (according to my family) might be chili with pasta instead of beans, spaghetti with extra meat and not much sauce, or a homemade Hamburger Helper.
