Recipe: Delicious Knafeh na'ameh (traditional palestinian recipe) Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Knafeh na'ameh (traditional palestinian recipe). Knafeh Na'ameh crust (farkeh) can be done in two different ways. The first one is using a semolina flour based dough that you bake, then grind into a fine powder, and the second is using kunafa/kataifi dough as your base. I tried several recipes for the semolina one but failed miserably.

It is a must-try if you ever have the chance.

Now, there are two kinds of knafeh.

Knafeh Na'ameh (smooth knafeh) and Knafeh Khishneh (rough knafeh).

You can have Knafeh na'ameh (traditional palestinian recipe) using 12 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Knafeh na'ameh (traditional palestinian recipe)

  1. Prepare 250 g of Vermicelli.

  2. It’s 200 ml of Milk.

  3. It’s 1 tbsp of Sugar.

  4. It’s 50 g of Butter.

  5. It’s 100 g of Shredded cheese.

  6. Prepare 100 g of Fresh cream.

  7. Prepare of For syrup:.

  8. It’s 200 g of Sugar.

  9. You need 2 of Juice Lemon juice.

  10. Prepare 1 tbsp of Rose water.

  11. Prepare 1/2 tsp of Cinnamon powder.

  12. It’s 100 ml of Water.

While the kanafa is baking, prepare the syrup.

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.

I still remember our trips to my homeland Palestine year after year.

  1. Break vermicelli into small pieces. Add milk mixed with sugar and melted butter. Mix well and partition it into two parts..

  2. Grease an oven proof vessel with Butter. Add little colour to it. Layer it with one part of vermicelli mix. Then cheese, then fresh cream. You can also add panneer..

  3. Then again with the second part of vermicelli mix. Bake at 250 Deg for 40 mins.

  4. Take it and flip it in a plate.Add sugar syrup and garnish with pistachios..

  5. Sugar syrup….Add all ingredients, let it boil. Then leave it in SIM for 5 mins. Then switch off..

  6. Cinnamon powder is optional..

There were special places my parents would always make sure that we visited on every single trip.

Jafar Sweets, a very famous Knafeh place in Jerusalem, Palestine is still one of my favorite places in Palestine that was always a must In Lebanon no one bothers to make knafeh at home.

Here is a tasty version using bread instead of semolina dough.

The texture of the knafeh does become dense when refrigerated but can be rewarmed later.
