Tawa Paneer. Tawa paneer masala recipe with step by step photos. Tawa paneer masala is a semi dry curry with capsicum/bell pepper, onions, tomatoes and paneer cubes cooked on tawa or a griddle. It is one of the easiest and quick paneer recipe you can prepare.

Makes a great accompaniment to naan and paratha.

This is one of the most delicious dishes in Indian restaurants worldwide.

Ingredients of Tawa Paneer

  1. Prepare 200 - 250 gms of Paneer.

  2. Prepare 1 of Onion finely chopped ,.

  3. You need 1 / of bell pepper Capsicumgreen.

  4. It’s 3 of Tomatoes chopped.

  5. It’s 4 - 5 of Garlic.

  6. Prepare 1 of Ginger.

  7. Prepare 1 of Green chili chopped.

  8. Prepare ½ tsp of seeds Ajwain Carom /.

  9. Prepare 1 tsp of Coriander powder.

  10. Prepare ¼ tsp of red chilli Kashmiri powder.

  11. It’s ¼ tsp of Turmeric haldi powder /.

  12. It’s 1 tsp of Pav masala bhaji.

  13. It’s of OR.

  14. Prepare ½ tsps ¼ tsps of Garam masala mango powder amchur + dry / powder.

  15. It’s 2 tbsps of Butter.

  16. Prepare ½ tsp of Kasuri methi Fenugreek Crushed   / dry   leaves.

  17. It’s as required of Salt.

  18. Prepare of coriander / Few chopped leavesdhania patta for garnish.

In the name Tawa Paneer, the term, Tawa, is used for a flat skillet and paneer in Indian cuisine refers to Indian Cottage Cheese.

So basically, Tawa Paneer is a lip-smacking dish made up of Indian cottage cheese and cooked in a flat skillet.

This is restaurant style paneer tawa masala.

Tawa Paneer step by step

  1. Evenly chop the paneer into fine cubes and soak them in salt water..

  2. Finely Chop onions, capsicum and green chillies..

  3. Roughly chop the tomatoes..

  4. Grind the ginger & garlic into a paste.

  5. Add the chopped tomatoes (3 medium tomatoes) in a blender and make a smooth puree & keep aside..

  6. Melt the butter in a skillet & add Carom seeds/Ajwain and fry them for a few seconds or till aromatic..

  7. Add chopped onion & saute until translucent.  Then add the ginger-garlic paste, chopped green chili, finely chopped capsicum/green bell pepper and saute for about 2-3 minutes..

  8. Add kashmiri red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and pav bhaji masala. If you don’t have pav bhaji masala, then add garam masala + amchur powder/dry mango powder. stir and saute for about a minute..

  9. Add tomato puree and stir. Season it with salt keep stirring it at intervals. Saute it till you see butter releasing from the sides and the masala has thickened on low flame for approximately 10 minutes. If the tomato masala looks dry, then add 1 or 2 tbsp of water and continue to saute..

  10. Add the paneer cubes and stir well, so that the masala coats the paneer cubes evenly. Cook the paneer for 1 to 2 minutes. then add ½ tsp crushed kasuri methi/dry fenugreek leaves. Stir very well and switch off the flame..

  11. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve tawa paneer masala with chapatis, phulkas, naan or bread..

As the name says paneer tawa masala, it is made on tawa or tava only.

Tawa paneer is a no nonsense way of making paneer as you don't need to grind the masala (if you use store bought tomato puree or finely chop up the fresh ones your job is almost done!).
