Heat oil, add the onion, cumin seeds, cardamom pods, cinnamon, cloves and peppercorns.

Then add the fish, prawns, tomatoes, rice, potatoes and water, along with the chopped coriander leaves and salt to taste.

Ingredients of Fish Pulao

  1. You need 4 pieces of Bhangan fish.

  2. Prepare 2 cups of basmati rice.

  3. Prepare 2 of big size onion.

  4. Prepare 1 cube of piece ginger.

  5. Prepare 6-7 of garlic cloves.

  6. You need 1 of tomato.

  7. You need 2 of green chillies.

  8. It’s 2 of bay leaves.

  9. It’s As needed of Whole garam masala (cinnamon,clove,cardamom).

  10. It’s pinch of Sugar.

  11. It’s to taste of Salt.

  12. Prepare 1 tbsp of haldi powder.

  13. It’s 2 tbsp of dhaniya powder.

  14. Prepare 1 tbsp of jeera powder.

  15. It’s 1 tbsp of kashmiri mirchi powder.

  16. Prepare as needed of Refined oil and ghee.

  17. You need as needed of Water.

  18. It’s as needed of Kewra water (optional).

Fish Pulao is a very simple preparation.

I had taken down this recipe from a cookery show some years back.

Use any fresh firm-fleshed fish like pomfret, seer fish etc to prepare this Pulao.

Frozen fish can also be used but wont be as tasty.

Fish Pulao instructions

  1. Wash rice let it dry on a tray.

  2. Marinate fish with little salt and haldi powder and keep aside..

  3. Make a paste of onion,ginger,garlic,chills and tomato..

  4. Heat kadai and add oil..

  5. Fry fish till golden brown dont make it too crispy & take it out,keep aside..

  6. In same oil add whole garam masala & bay leaves saute for few seconds and add vegetables paste fry till colour changes..

  7. Add dhaniya,jeera & kashmiri mirchi powder.Then add 1 tsp salt & 1tsp sugar and cook till oil gets separated.After that add 1cup of water..

  8. When gravy starts to boil add fish and let it cook for 6mins. Then take out fish from the gravy..

  9. Then in the same gravy add rice & mix it well. Add 1tbsp salt and 3tbsp sugar then add 4cups of water and cover the lid..

  10. Check in between when water almost gets absorbed add 1 spoon ghee and 2drops of kewra water..

  11. Then arrange all the fish on top of rice and cover the lid..

  12. Switch off flame and give some standing time..

  13. After 10mins serve it..
