Sindhi Onion Pickle. Traditional Sindhi pickle/Sandhyala basar is mandatory in many households. This instant onion pickle recipe is very tasty. It is tangy and also helps you beat the heat.

In olden days, ladies would make various pickles in the backyard.

This is a traditional Sindhi Onion Pickle Recipe also called the "Pyaaz Ka Achaar" or "BASAR JI KHATAIRN" or "Sandhyal Bassar" in Sindhi.

I learnt it from my Mother-In-Law.

You can cook Sindhi Onion Pickle using 5 ingredients and 8 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Sindhi Onion Pickle

  1. You need 500 g of shallots (small onions).

  2. It’s 50 g of mustard seeds.

  3. Prepare 1 tbsp of salt.

  4. Prepare 1 tbsp of mix spices–haldi chilli powder dhania powder.

  5. Prepare 500 ml of water.

The best part is that we do not have to use vinegar (Sirka) & is completely oil free.

Onion is a one of the best things nature gave us.

This is a traditional Sindhi onion pickle made without oil.

Sindhi Onion Pickle step by step

  1. Firstly peel the shallots.

  2. Slit the shallots in plus+ sign.

  3. Put dem in a jar (plastic or glass).

  4. Grind the mustard seeds.

  5. Add the salt dry spices and mustard powder.

  6. Toss well.

  7. After 2 hrs add water.

  8. Mix it twice in a day for 4 days or else keep in the sun for 2 days. Its ready to b had wit rice roti or as a side dish.

Unlike other pickles this has just a few ingredients and it is very easy to make.

It is better to make in smaller quantity and consume fast as the shelf life of this is not much.
