Omapodi / Sev. Sev recipe - also known as omapodi in tamil, karapusa in telugu - Sev is a crispy snack usually made of gram flour. Sometimes rice flour is also added for an extra crisp texture. It is eaten as it is as a Evening snack or topped over Chaat.
Omapodi/Sev recipe is a popular Indian spice mixture made with chickpea flour.

You can have Omapodi / Sev using 7 ingredients and 3 steps. Here is how you cook it.
Ingredients of Omapodi / Sev

Prepare 2 cups of besan flour.

It’s 1 cup of rice flour.

It’s 2 tbsp of ajwain.

Prepare Pinch of hing & turmeric.

It’s as required of Oil to fry.

Prepare Few of curry leaves.

You need to taste of Salt.
Diwali is an Indian festival also known as the festival of lights and is celebrated with a lot of pomp and vigor.
Omapodi or plain sev is a tasty & crunchy savoury dish prepared using gram flour (also known as besan in Hindi) as the base ingredient.
It resembles that of noodles or semiya, but crispy and thin in texture.
Plain Sev is mildly flavoured with chilly powder and/or carom seeds (ajwain/omam).
Omapodi / Sev step by step

Mix all the flour with salt, turmeric and hing. Soak ajwain in hot water for 15 minutes and filter the water.

Make a dough using the ajwain water. Heat a pan with oil to deep fry.

Once oil is hot, place the dough in omakuzhal and press the outer lid in clock wise direction. Once done in the same oil fry curry leaves.
Omapodi recipe, made with kadalai mavu (Gram flour/ besan), rice flour and omam (Ajwain/ caraway seeds) as main ingredients.

Some people make with just purely besan, but I make this way as I follow my MIL's omapodi recipe.
