Tricolour Sooji Halwa. A basic sooji halwa recipe with step by step pictures. Sooji ka halwa is a classic Indian semolina pudding cooked with ghee (clarified butter), nuts, raisins and flavored with cardamom. Sooji ka halwa is a quick, easy and delicious halwa made in almost all the Indian household.

I have used powdered dry nuts with sugar in this recipe but you can add them chopped too.

You can cook Tricolour Sooji Halwa using 8 ingredients and 8 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Tricolour Sooji Halwa

  1. Prepare 2 cups of sooji.

  2. You need 4 tbsp of pure oil.

  3. Prepare 2 cups of milk.

  4. It’s 1 cup of grated sugar.

  5. It’s 2 cups of water.

  6. It’s Few of strands of saffron or eatable orange colour.

  7. You need 1 pinch of eatable green colour.

  8. You need Few of few crushed cashews, almonds & raisins.

Milk Kesari is a rich for of normal Kesari where rava is cooked inside milk to make it more delicious.

Kesari is a South Indian dessert called by diverse names in each states.

In North they call it as Sooji Halwa, Rava Kesari in Tamil and Kesari in Telugu and Kesari Bhath in Karnataka.

Sooji ka Halwa is a very popular Indian Dessert.

Tricolour Sooji Halwa instructions

  1. Take a pan,put ghee in it.Add sooji & cook till it become light pink in colour,now add almonds, cashews & raisin in it & let it be cool down..

  2. Take a bowl, mix water & milk. Put it in three equal parts..

  3. Add saffron colour to one part,green colour to another part and let the remain part as it is..

  4. Heat a pan,put one part of sooji, coloured orange water & milk. Cook till it become a smooth paste.stir continuously..

  5. Heat another part of sooji with green colour, milk& water.Cook till becomes a smooth paste..

  6. In another heated pan add leftover portion of sooji, milk& water.cook till it becomes smooth paste..

  7. Take a bowl,Grease it with desi ghee,pour orange paste first & press it,now add white paste & then green paste & pressed well..

  8. Let it cool down. Put a plate on it and take out the halwa. Garnish with almonds..

Its quick and easy to make with just a few ingredients.

Now halwa is a kind of pudding and there are different kinds of halwa - like Carrot Halwa, Moong Dal Halwa, Pineapple Halwa to name a few.
