Recipe: Delicious Garlic Paruppu Podi Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Garlic Paruppu Podi. Paruppu Podi, a smooth dal powder made with toor dal, roasted gram, chili, pepper, hing and salt. Paruppu podi is a very handy ready to eat homemade must have mix in our pantry. A spoon of Paruppu podi mixed with hot steaming rice along with a generous spoon of ghee makes us drool!

Andhra style paruppu podi with garlic / Kandi pappu podi served with hot white rice and ghee is a meal in itself.

You can cook Garlic Paruppu Podi using 6 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you cook that.

Ingredients of Garlic Paruppu Podi

  1. Prepare of Ghee.

  2. It’s of Garlic.

  3. You need of chillies Dry red.

  4. It’s of pottukadalai / RoastedGram.

  5. Prepare of Salt.

  6. You need of Coconut scrapings.

The flavour of garlic with mixed dals is dainty.

In Andhra, this Paruppu Podi is very popular.

They call it as Kandi Podi and it would be more spicy.

Paruppu podi we make generally without adding garlic.

Garlic Paruppu Podi instructions

  1. Take a wok / kadaai, keep it on medium heat. Add a tbsp of ghee..

  2. Add rest of the ingredients, except pottukadalai / Roasted Gram dal. Saute all the ingredients until aromatic..

  3. Switch off the stove and now add the pottukadalai / Roasted Gram dal. Saute this in the remaining heat for 2 minutes. Pottukadalai should not be roasted too much as it is already roasted..

  4. Now spread this mixture in a clean plate and allow it to cool for 10 minutes..

  5. Transfer the mixture to a blender jar and grind it to a smooth powder..

  6. Spread the powder in a clean newspaper or plate and allow it to cool down for 15 minutes..

  7. Later transfer this to an air tight container and store it in a dry place..
