Ingredients of Bulgur Mujaddara

  1. You need of coarse bulgur.

  2. Prepare of brown lentils.

  3. It’s of yellow onion finely diced.

  4. It’s of large yellow onions sliced.

  5. Prepare of olive oil.

  6. It’s of Cumin.

  7. Prepare of Salt.

  8. You need of Black pepper.

  9. Prepare of Curry powder.

  10. Prepare of Mixed seven spices.

  11. You need of Nutmeg.

  12. It’s of Water.

Add the bulgur, salt, and pepper.

Bulgur Mujaddara step by step

  1. Soak bulgur in tepid water for 20-30 minutes..

  2. Heat the olive oil then fry the finely chopped onion till soft..

  3. Drain water from bulgur, the add the bulgur to the frying pan over the onion. Mix over heat for 10 minutes..

  4. Add all spices to your taste..

  5. Wash the lentils. Boil till half cooked in water..

  6. Drain the lentils, add them with the bulgur in a pot. Cover the bulgur with water, boil, the cover the pot on low heat for 20 minutes, the keep covered..

  7. Fry the sliced onions in 2 tablespoons of olive oil till brownish and crispy..

  8. Add this oil over your cooked bulgur..

  9. Dress your plate with your crispy onions. Enjoy!.

The bulgur also results in a softer, chewier texture than rice, and I personally find it to be much more filling, making this the perfect complete meal.
