Paruppu urundai kuzhmabu / Lentil dumplings curry is a very very traditional Tamilnadu dish served for lunch in the weddings, during celebration times and festival days.

Paruppu urundai kuzhambu/spiced lentil dumplings is the yummy coconut curry where lentil dumplings are steamed and then dropped into the spicy tamarind coconut sauce.

  1. Step 1 : Wash the chanadal and sock for 1 hour..

  2. Step 2 : For the urundai we will grind the ingredients, soaked chanadal,coconut, 4 garlic pods, fennal 1 spoon, dry red chilli 1, half spoon pepper. After grinding make it into small balls and keep it aside..

  3. Step 3 : Take a kadai, add oil and add Fennel 1 table spoon, jeera 1 table spoon, Fenugreek half table spoon, Dry red chilli 2, raw black pepper 1 table spoon..

  4. Step 4 : After the aroma comes add garlic pods and saute for 2 to 3 minutes till the garlic changes the colour.. Now add chopped onions saute till the colour changes. Next add the tomatoes cook it till it get mashed..

  5. Step 5: Add a pinch of turmeric powder, salt to taste, 1 table spoon red chilli powder and cook it till the raw smell goes..

  6. Step 6 : Add tamarind juice, coconut milk, add required amount of water and cover the lid and cook for 5 to 6 minutes..

  7. Step 7 : Afterwards add the paruppu urundai one by one, do not stir the kulambu, close the lid and cook for 10 minutes, open the lid garnish it with coriander paruppu urundai kulambu is ready. Serve it hot with white rice..
