You need 1 of small idichakka.

It’s 1 Cup of coconut grated.

You need to taste of red chilli powder According.
Peel of the green thorny skin from the outer chunks until no-green is visible, discard the peeled off skin.
Cut the chunks into smaller pieces.
My version of the Idichakka Thoran Recipe is the Palakkad Style that uses no onion or shallots, nor any garlic.
It is a Brahmin Style Thoran Recipe that is made with a mix of coconut-cumin-green chillies and stir fried in coconut oil.

Firstly cut idichakka into cubes.Cut of its outer crust. and cook in pressure cook for 1 whistle. add salt while cooking..

After cooking,drain the water and take the cubes out. smash it using a mortar & pitsel, make sure it is not a paste just a simple smash is enough..

Grind the coconut, jeerakam and red chilli powder. no need of making a paste.. coarse grind in enough. mis well with the smashed idichakka.. check salt and add it accordingly..

Now just season the mustard and add this mixture to it. done your idichakka thoran is ready.. You must make sure that less water content is present..while cooking.
