Taro Fry Arbi Seppankizhangu Roast. Seppankizhangu Roast / Arbi Fry is a simple and delicious side which is perfect for South Indian lunch. It goes best with sambar rice, rasam rice or even curd rice. Seppankizhangu(also known as Arbi / Taro Root) is a root vegetable which I never tasted before marriage and was introduced to me by my husband.

Arbi is also called as seppankizhangu in tamil language.

Sambar powder has got the right amount of spices which is ideal for this seppankizhangu fry.

Ingredients of Taro Fry Arbi Seppankizhangu Roast

  1. It’s of taro/ Seppankizhanghu.

  2. Prepare of red chilli powder.

  3. Prepare of garam masala powder.

  4. It’s of ginger garlic paste.

  5. Prepare of corn flour.

  6. It’s of turmeric powder.

  7. You need of salt.

  8. It’s of Oil for deep frying.

Add a teaspoon of rice flour to make fry more crisp and dry.

Adding Bengal gram flour/besan would also be added to make the fry dry and to retain its shape.

Taro root also is known as seppankizhangu in Tamil and arbi in Hindi is a root vegetable used in Asian cuisine.

Taro root is also a starchy vegetable and is cooked just like a potato.

  1. Pressure cook taro for 1 whistle. Peel the skin and cut into desired shape. Set aside..

  2. Deep fry in oil and take in a bowl..

  3. In a separate bowl add turmeric powder,ginger garlic paste and red chilli powder..

  4. Then add salt, garam masala and corn flour. Add little water and make into into a slurry..

  5. Pour this over the fried taro and mix to coat all the pieces..

  6. In a pan add 3 tbspn oil and roast the masala taro till crisp..

Seppankizhangu Roast (Taro Fry), is an easy and very delicious side, it is spicy and crispy on the outside.

It goes well with a perfect sides for any south indian rice varieties.

Wash the taro roots nicely in water.

Add taro roots, little salt and water (just until the level of the taro roots) in a pressure cooker.

Place the cooker in high flame in the stove.
