Easiest Way to Prepare Yummy Chicken Akni Delicious, fresh and tasty.
Chicken Akni. Chicken Akni is best served with what we in Cape Town like to call "uiwe en tamatie slaai". It is a lightly pickled salad using with chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, chillies, vinegar and sugar. Easy Chicken Akni for me is exactly that, just an easy version of Biryani.
So much so that I could eat this for breakfast, lunch.
A wonderful combination of spices, pieces of chicken resulting in a beautiful, aromatic dish..
It's easy, quick and such a filling meal.

Ingredients of Chicken Akni

Prepare 500 gms of left over chicken gravy.

It’s 100 gms of potatoes.

You need 50 gms of tomatoes.

Prepare 2 tbsp of ginger garlic paste.

Chicken Akni I've listed Chicken Akni a few times in my meal plans and I've promised to post it, so here it is, finally.
If you've never heard of Akni, it's an aromatic and flavourful East African/Indian rice dish (that is not spicy if you don't want it to be.) Chicken Ahkni.
Finally pour the masala in the yakhni, already back in the cooking pot.
Sprinkle the fried onions & mint leaves.
Chicken Akni instructions

In oil fry onion till golden brown then add ginger garlic paste and cumin seeds fry them on medium high flame then add tomatoes.

Fry on high flame for 5 seconds then add 2tsp water so onion wont get black. Then add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt stir fry them till oil separates..

Then add potatoes and little water and cover with the lid once potatoes are tender then add left over chicken gravies… I had qorma and achari chicken and add chickpeas at the same time..

Stir fry on high flame and once oil separates add soaked rice mix well and then add water and let it cook for a while. When water evaporates cover the lid turn the flame to low and let it cook for 20-25 minutes.

Serve it with onion and yogurt……
Close the pot by tightly covering the pot with foil just.
The sauce should be nice and thick.
Add the potatoes and the rest of the spices.
Stir Rinse the rice and add it to the chicken and potatoes.
