Suji ka Halwa. Suji ka halwa or Sheera is a classic Indian semolina pudding made with sugar, ghee and dry fruits. The recipe I have shared is a family heirloom recipe. We have been making this suji halwa recipe for decades during family get togethers, special occasions & festivals.

Sooji Halwa Recipe: Semolina and sugar syrup dessert flavored with cardamom and garnished with almonds.

Semolina, when made sweet, is called sheera.

Several variants of this dish are available under other names in various parts of India.

Ingredients of Suji ka Halwa

  1. It’s of Quater kg suji.

  2. It’s Half of kilo desi ghee.

  3. Prepare of Dry fruits.

  4. Prepare of Sugar half kg.

  5. Prepare of Yellow food colour.

  6. You need 1 pinch of pure zafran.

For instance, in Maharashtra, it is called sheera which is the sweet version and in North India it is called sooji (suji) halwa or Mohan bhog.

In the Caribbean it is known by Indo-Caribbeans as Mohan bhog or simply just as parsad, as it is a common sweet that.

Suji Ka Halwa or Sooji Halwa is a popular Indian dessert which is especially prepared during various festivals and religious functions.

  1. Method. Fry soji in ghee till it change in colour add sugar dry fruits and a jug of water and zafran. Keep stirring all the time when soji absorvs water lower the flame cover and let cook for about 8 to 10 minutes stiring once n twice in between. Granish with dry coconut peices and almond and pista slices..

Serving Ideas: Serve warm rava halwa in breakfast along with puris (made from wheat flour).
