Hope you are all having a great onam and had your share of onam sadya 🙂 This cucumber kichadi is similar to cucumber raita with a kerala twist….this is no way related to our kichadi this is cucumber in coconut yogurt gravy. This dish is commonly known as Pachadi,but.
Veggies and fruits are used to make kichadi or pachadi.
I usually make cucumber raita as a side dish to go with the meals at times, but preparing cucumber pachadi had a surprise element as far as the taste is concerned.
On the other hand, Kichadi is not sweet.
You can have Tomato and Cucumber kichadi using 9 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

They are usually made with vegetables like cucumber (vellarikka) kitchadi, tomato (Thakkali) Kithcadi, raw mango (pacha manga) pachadi, bitter gourd (Pavakkai) Kichadi, okra (Vendakkai) Kichadi, Banana stem (vazhathandu) kichadi etc.
Here coconut is ground with green chili.
Pavakka Kichadi, Cucumber Pachadi, Mambazha Pulissery, Kumbalanga Moru curry, Kalan, Pappaya Pulissery, Tomato Pachadi all are my favourite curd dishes at home.

Tomato and Cucumber kichadi step by step

Chop cucumber and tomato.

Grind coconut, mustard seeds, green chilli and half cup curd and pour it to a serving dish. .

Add the remaining curd and salt and mix it well..

Now in a pan, heat oil. Add mustard seeds. Let it pop. Now keep the flame low and add dried red chilli and curry leaves and saute until done. Add chopped tomatoes and cucumber to this. Saute the vegetable for few seconds  and turn off the flame..

Add this to the serving dish. This dish goes well with rice and can be tried on a weekday or on a lazy sunday !!!!.
