Ingredients of Oats Khichdi

  1. It’s 1 tablespoons of oil.

  2. Prepare 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds.

  3. It’s 1 pinch of asafoetida.

  4. Prepare 1/3 cup of chopped onions.

  5. You need 1/2 teaspoon of ginger, minced.

  6. You need 1/2 teaspoon of garlic, minced.

  7. You need 1 of green chilli, finely chopped.

  8. Prepare 1/3 cup of tomatoes, chopped.

  9. Prepare 1/3 cup of chopped carrots.

  10. You need 1/3 cup of chopped broccoli.

  11. Prepare 1/3 cup of green peas - fresh or frozen.

  12. You need 1/2 cup of moong dal (split and husked).

  13. It’s 1 cup of oats.

  14. It’s 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder.

  15. You need 3 cups of water.

  16. It’s to taste of salt.

  17. Prepare 2 tablespoons of chopped coriander leaves.

  18. You need 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.

Oats Khichdi step by step

  1. Heat Oil in a pressure cooker.

Once the oil is hot, add in cumin seeds and asafoetida, and let them crackle for a few seconds..

  1. Then add cup chopped onions and saute onions till they turn translucent.

  2. Add ginger- garlic, chopped green chilli and saute for few seconds.

Now add hopped tomatoes and saute till tomatoes soften..

  1. Further add the all veggies, saute veggies for a minute..

  2. Add oats and washed and drained moong along with 3 cups of water, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt. Mix well..

  3. Cover the cooker with lid and pressure cook on medium flame for 5-6 minutes, and when pressure settles down on its own, remove lid and stir the khichdi..

  4. Serve oats khichdi hot with a garnish of chopped coriander and drizzle some lemon juice on top of oats khichdi.
