Tuwon semovita with baobab soup (Miyar Kuka). Baobab soup is extremely healthful, delicious and traditional to the northern part of the Nigeria Maryam Harande. Baobab, Powdered Milk, Peak milk, Sugar, Vanilla flavour, Water Kuka-powder. Miyan kuka is a popular soup prepared to be eaten with swallow like Tuwon Dawa or Masara or Semovita in the Northern part of Nigeria.

This is a popular soup here in the north and common among the hausa people,it is prepared using boabab leaves powder and can be enjoyed with tuwo,semovita,cous cous etc.

This is what is called Kuka.

I understand Kuka is made from the Baobab leaves.

When I was done cooking, Miyan Kuka reminded me of ogbono soup but with a darker green color.

Miyar kuka or miyan kuka, also known as Luru soup is a type of Nigerian dish from the northern part of Nigeria.

Tuwon semovita with baobab soup (Miyar Kuka) instructions

  1. Pour water on a pot allow it to boil, take a bowl, put two cups of semovita add cold water to it, use wooden spatula to stir it. Pour the mixture into the boiling water. Allow to boil again, then bring your semovita flour and start adding it small small with one hand and use the other hand stir it with wooden spatula, until its thickens and no lumps.. Allow it to heat again.. And serve.

  2. For the soup: Boil your meat with some seasoning cubes, onions, ginger and garlic paste, set aside. Pour your palm oil on the pot, put some chop onion, stir fry, add your grated scotch bonnet, bell pepper, onions. Stir fry for some minutes and add water (you can use the water u boiled your meat). Add in your seasonings, locus beans, ground nutmeg, spices and the boiled meat.. Allow it to cook for 30minutes in a low flame…

  3. Serve!.

It is also popular in Northern Ghana and Zongo communities in Ghana.

The soup is made from powdered baobab leaves and dried okra.

Miyan Kuka is best accompanied with tuwon shinkafa, tuwon masara.
